Job Description
The Account Coordinator (AC) is a dynamic, entry-level position for a person passionate building a career in public relations. In this role, there’s never a dull moment; the AC will have the opportunity to learn and grow a number of skills from technical writing and advertising buys to working with the media and creating social campaigns. The AC will work on numerous projects and will provide support to the entire public relations team, assisting with multiple clients and events and performing administrative functions as needed. The AC attends events and participates in client service, research, media relations, professional writing, basic graphic design, and social media strategy in order to deliver integrated communications campaigns. The AC may provide, as requested by the Principal or Account Executive, client communication support.
The AC has superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and successfully work on multiple tasks on an ongoing basis. They have a superior work ethic and excellent interpersonal and communications skills. The AC is a coachable self-starter who learns quickly and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The AC reports directly to the Principal, Courtenay Sprunger.
Job Location
The Account Coordinator position is based at our Missoula, Montana office.
Essential Responsibilities / Duties:
Managing daily client coverage monitoring, clipping, and media placement reports
Maintain successful relationships with key media members
Conduct research in multiple industries
Develop and manage media contact databases
Attend in-person meetings and events with client, when appropriate
Write press kit documents as well as news releases, pitch letters, bylines, website content and blogs for Big Sky PR and its clients
Develop internal documents such as manuals or handbooks
Assist in drafting proposals, copywriting and proofreading
Assist with press tour and trade show schedules and appointments
Assist with the development of weekly, monthly and quarterly PR reports
Keep abreast of each client’s industry, competition and coverage
Develop social media campaigns, draft, organize and schedule content for Big Sky PR and its clients
Conduct outreach activities in public settings including canvassing, representing client projects at community events, and material distribution to stakeholder groups and community partners
Provide client communication support as requested
Management of public hotline during business hours including fielding calls and questions from the public about client projects
General administrative duties as needed such as greeting clients, answering phones, office errands, or light housekeeping
Interpersonal Skills:
Develop and maintain productive, trusting relationships with clients, stakeholders, elected officials, members of the media, and other influencers with whom he/she may sometimes interact. Work cooperatively and positively with other members of the Big Sky Public Relations team on a daily basis. Possess a commitment to giving and receiving feedback honestly and graciously.
Requirements:
BA/BS in Communications/Marketing/Public Relations/Integrated Marketing or related field
Must be proficient in using the Microsoft Office suite of products, as well as familiarity with or the capability to quickly learn internet tools and technologies such as Gmail, Dropbox, digital task management software, and file sharing platforms; internet research and PowerPoint skills are a must
Capacity to effectively building trusting relationship with members of the public
Strong written and verbal communications
Social and digital media experience and an interest in learning and employing latest tactics
Familiar with AP Style
Strong initiative, leadership skills and work ethic; exacting attention to detail
Excellent communicator
Ability to work independently
Teamwork mentality including the ability to multi-task in a team-oriented environment and easily work on multiple projects throughout the course of a day or week.
Strong problem-solving skills
Willingness to be flexible
Ability to work in our Missoula office
Capabilities with design/photo and video software, and website platforms such as Wordpress and Wix are beneficial but not required.
Able to set up for and staff events, which requires lifting 30 pounds and standing for several hours; able to comfortably walk several miles in a day in order to complete canvassing or other material distribution duties.
Ability to consistently and accurately track time on a daily basis using company software
Job Schedule
The Account Coordinator’s standard schedule is Monday through Friday, with hours dependent upon Big Sky Public Relations’ current staffing needs. We celebrate work/life balance and are committed to protecting our team’s family and recreation time. If necessary, weekend and evening work with be scheduled in advance with the Account Coordinator Big Sky Public Relations. All days will be worked in office, with the exception of Work from Home Mondays (a privilege enjoyed by employees in good standing who are billing their allocated hours on a weekly basis).

Work Schedule: The AC typically works 35 to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Work on weekends and evenings will be required. Additional hours may be required during special events or high-volume seasons with project rollouts.

Hourly Range: $17/hour - $19/hour DOE
